Brake Shoes

Brake shoes are crescent-shaped components with a high friction material on one side.
When pressed, the brake shoes are forced outwards, pushing against the brake drum, resulting in the vehicle slowing down or stopping.
T-OPT’s brake shoes possess Noise & Vibration Reduction Ability. They are manufactured from a proprietary formulation of high friction materials to form a matrix material base which eliminates any squealing, grinding, or scraping noises during braking.
T-OPT’s brake shoes possess good heat dissipation abilities and extended durability. Excessive friction and heat will lead to scoring or grooving on the inner surface of the brake drum, resulting in loss of braking power and longer stopping distances.
Based on tests conducted, we recommend replacement intervals of every 40,000 – 60,000km. This is also dependent on terrain, weather conditions and driving style. However, should you notice unusual sounds, vibrations or a shaky steering wheel or extremely sensitive or insensitive braking, an immediate replacement may be needed. Especially in the event of severe weather conditions, do check with your mechanic for possible wear and tear.
To ensure brake shoes last longer, slow down gently where possible, avoid overloading vehicle and clean brake dust within the drums regularly. Kindly refer to the recommendations in your manufacturer’s manual and your vehicle’s maintenance records.
